Ausstellung – Rendered Infinities

Soloausstellung von Šumski
03.07. – 09.08.2026

“Maps are always designs of the world.
They do not show reality, but rather a bold interpretation.”
Judith Schalansky, Atlas of Remote Islands

Šumski approaches borders as permeable thresholds between inner and outer worlds. Rather than fixed divisions, he sees them as shifting zones where imagination, psyche, and environment continuously reflect one another. The landscapes of consciousness—visions, memories, and symbolic imagery— intertwine with the structures of nature and the wider universe.

Through digital artworks and psychedelic video mapping, Šumski creates immersive fields of light and movement that dissolve the distinction between observer, image, and space. His visual language is informed by the idea of reality as a holographic structure, where each fragment carries traces of the whole. Inner perception and external environment thus appear as interconnected layers of a single experience.

Within the context of the exhibition Rendered Infinities in Fincan, Šumski understand borders not as limits but as spaces of transformation. The projection surface becomes a site where imagination, technology, and nature converge—revealing how the outside is already inscribed within the inside, and how both are constantly renegotiated through perception and experience.

Šumski is the artistic moniker of Ivan Blažetić, a Berlin-based Croatian artist working across murals, illustration, painting, and new media. The name Šumski derives from the Croatian word meaning “sylvan,” evoking the atmosphere and spirit of forests—an idea that resonates throughout his work.

Narrative and atmosphere play a central role in his practice. Through symbolic imagery, vivid color, and theatrical composition, Šumski explores the emotional relationship between humans and nature, while also addressing themes of consciousness and the human psyche. His works often unfold as visual stories populated by expressive characters and layered scenes that reflect empathy, resilience, transformation, and the inner landscapes of perception and imagination.

Šumski studied at the Academy of Applied Arts University of Rijeka in Croatia and later completed a master’s degree in Digital Set Design and VFX at Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF in Germany.

His multidisciplinary career spans collaborations with cultural institutions and international clients including Nike, New Scientist, Serif (Affinity Designer), GQ Magazine, Jägermeister, Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe, and Igapa Group. His work has been exhibited internationally, and his murals can be found in cities including Berlin, Zagreb, and Trondheim. Drawing on influences
from cinema, digital art, and nature, Šumski creates immersive visual worlds that eek to reconnect audiences with imagination, compassion, and the living environment.
